Be on the Minority

"Whenever you find yourself on the side of the majority, it's time to pause and reflect."
Mark Twain

The first time I read this quote, I found myself lost in thought. It struck me deeply, forcing me to reflect on how most of us unconsciously follow the crowd. We walk the path paved by the majority—a path of security, predictability, and societal approval.

The majority chooses a life they can foresee from the start: they pursue education until their late twenties, earning degrees—Masters, PhDs—before stepping into jobs they may not even like. They build careers, marry, raise children, work tirelessly to provide, climb corporate ladders, buy houses, and take an occasional vacation abroad. Their days are structured, their dreams carefully measured, their risks minimized.

But in the process, they forget to live for themselves.

They work for their families, for their employers, for society—but rarely, if ever, for their own dreams. This is the silent tragedy that engulfs most lives: a life dictated by convention, not by passion.

Yet history tells a different tale—one written by those who dared to break away from the crowd. The few who refused to conform, who took risks, who dreamed beyond the ordinary—these are the ones who shaped the world.

They stood on the side of the minority.
They followed their own path when the world called them crazy.
They embraced creativity, thinking differently and acting boldly.
They ventured into uncharted territory, where no one could disturb them.
And in doing so, they left behind footprints too profound to be erased by time.

These are the people whom generations remember. Their names are etched into history, their work celebrated, their impact everlasting.

So take a moment to reflect. Observe where the majority is leading. If your path mirrors that of 95% of the world, pause. Ask yourself—is this truly the life you want? Or are you merely following a script written by others?

Dare to choose differently. Dare to walk the path of the 5%—the path of courage, innovation, and greatness.
